A little time by the ocean does not have to fill the afternoon. If North Hutchinson Island is already near your plans, Pepper Park Beachside is one place to consider for a short pause in Fort Pierce.
I’m Angela, owner of Sanderling Cleaning Company. This week’s peaceful-stop idea is about making a little room in the day for somewhere you enjoy. There is no long walk or full beach day required by this idea. Choose the amount of time and movement that suits you.
The practical details
St. Lucie County lists Pepper Park Beachside at 3302 North SR A1A, Fort Pierce, FL 34949. Its listed amenities include beach access, picnic tables, restrooms and pavilions. Pavilions provide a possible shaded stopping place, though an available seat, shade at a particular hour and an ocean view from a table are not guaranteed.
Parking and cost: Visit St. Lucie describes the area’s non-state-park beaches as having no parking or admission fees. Its Pepper Park feature lists paved parking and dune walkovers. Pavilion reservations are a separate paid arrangement, rather than part of this short-stop suggestion.
Walking distance: the sources checked do not give a measured distance from a parking space to a particular table or beach entrance. Allow for the route from the space you find, a dune crossing if you choose the beach, and sand beyond the access point. If the distance or surface matters to your plans, confirm the route before setting out.
A note about the hours
The county’s Pepper Park detail page says “Open 24 hours; 7 days a week.” Its general beaches page says county parks, beaches and preserves are open dawn to dusk. Because those listings disagree, plan this as a daylight stop and confirm the current posted hours with the county. Day-of closures, restroom availability and access conditions have not been independently confirmed.
Keep the visit small
Choose one thing you would like from the stop: sitting somewhere shaded, seeing the water or taking a brief walk. Start with that, rather than adding a list of things to fit in. You can decide on arrival whether the seating, weather and route work for you.
A drink of water, a little shade and time to look around may be enough for the visit you had in mind. If the parking area is busy or the access does not suit you that day, it is fine to leave the idea for another time.
A local idea to keep handy
This is a researched place suggestion, not a report of my own visit. The watercolor accompanying it is a coastal interpretation, not a photograph documenting the park or today’s conditions.
If this is a convenient part of Fort Pierce for you, keep the county listing handy and choose a daylight break that fits your day. A little time by the water can simply be a little time by the water.
